I've been inspired by stars and stripes and the American flag for quite some time now, ever since I bought a ring that had stars on it and another with stripes and my boyfriend pointed out that it looked like the American flag, and have been playing around with different fabrics with stars and stripes. So it comes as no surprise that I was stoked when I found these amazing vintage Levi's (first photo) customised by a girl named Hannah Russell Webb, who has also sold a whole lot of other amazing customised shorts. I start back at uni next Monday (eek) but that still means I've got a week of "freedom", so will post a few photos on Sew 'n Tell asap of the all things 'Stars and Stripes' that I've been making. Stay tuned.x
I am in love with green tea. I haven't been able to drink coffee in a while, wanted to get back on it but decided against it again as green tea is so much better for you. I have one with pretty much every meal and it's so good because it actually contains many natural antioxidants to help boost your metabolism. Here are some other ways that green tea is efficient...
But if tea's not really your 'cup of tea' :p, then there are also green tea lattes, green tea icecream, green tea macaroons, green tea chai latte from Starbucks, green tea cakes and cupcakes, not to mention green tea flavoured liquer...
Mmmm :p So get on the green tea band wagon. You'll be pleased you're actually putting something good AND tasty into your body!x
Cinderella is proof that one pair of shoes can change your life...
AND. If the shoe fits... why not??? :p So many pairs, so little time to save! I love love love the Alexander McQueen's (rest his soul), and I've been lusting after the Iris Van Herpen heels for quite some time... But I need to save. Calculated it and I have about 20 weeks until Sydney. Eeek! So fast, so exciting! Funny that, I was trying to decide what flights to get, whether I needed to pay extra for 23kgs worth of luggage since I was only thinking of taking only a small carry on bag so that I'd be able to shop up a storm there and bring loads more back :p BUT WAIT. My boyf was pretty sure I'd need the 23kgs and that's when it hit me. I CAN'T LEAVE MY BABIES AT HOME!!!! So yes, all my shoes are indeed coming with me to Sydney :D Obviously, I'll be bringing back a whole lot more with me though hehe.x
Happy pancake day!!! Although I didn't have time to make any today, today has been a good day. I managed to secure myself an internship in Sydney with a major fashion PR, advertising and marketing agency, all set for August. Going to book my flights tomorrow :D On top of that, my boyfriend also got a new job! Super yay! :) Hopefully everything works out the way it should! Work's been great, I also start uni in 2 weeks- which I'm actually quite excited for, being my last semester and all. I've also been doing some extra research and some tie-dying. Going to make some goodies to show you all! Stay tuned, I promise the wait will be worth it! :) x
So yesterday was Valentines Day and also my 4 year 2 month anniversary. Spent literally all afternoon baking in the kitchen with my boyfriend - we made 2 bacon and egg pies, 2 apple pies, 24 chocolate chip cupcakes (vanilla and lemon icing), a batch of heart shaped puff pastries and a toss green salad. We had such a yummy dinner and dessert and topped it off with snuggles watching the Notebook :) - such a super cute movie! And I'm so glad our pies turned out good, I'm finally starting to get the hang of this thing they call cooking :p I'm going to do some more baking tonight - make some cupcakes for my work's 6 year birthday! Also, Happy 1 year anniversary to my bestie Anna and her lovely beau Andrew. They got me a dozen red roses, Ferrero Rochers and Lindor white chocolates for Valentines. Super cute of them, lucky me to have such a good friend! x
Wow. That is the only word to describe the video I just watched of Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, speaking to a large crowd of Stanford University students. I'm speechless. He's so amazing.
"You can’t connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something. Your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even if it leads you off the well-worn path. And that will make all the difference."
"Sometimes life’s gonna hit you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. You’ve got to find what you love and that is as true for work as it is for your lovers. Your work is gonna fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking, don’t settle."
"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. Its life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now, the new is you. But someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other people’s opinions drown out your own inner voice and most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
Truly truly truly inspirational words. What a smart man. Check out the video here:
This video has just made me want to work hard at everything I wish to pursue and achieve. Firstly, I need to curb my online shopping addiction - it all begins with baby steps of course!! :p But seriously, I am feeling a strong sense of motivation right now. Let's hope it lasts!x
So. Love it or hate it, Valentines day is next Monday. I'm pretty indifferent to it although it is also my 4 years and 2 months (long time huh). As a Valentines gift/celebratory gift for passing my exam with an A, I have now to make a very tough decision... To buy the new D_Luxe Minnie Cap ring OR the Stolen Girlfriends Club Double bow ring which I've lusted after for months and months.... help!x
